Hospital
Residents
in Maupuia Hospital have been assessed by a doctor specialising
in the Older Adult as requiring "Hospital Care". Hospital Care is
generally someone who needs 24 hour care they may
need a lot of help with their daily cares, need constant supervision
or require medical intervention from Registered Nurses. As a Private Medical Hospital,
there is a Registered Nurse on duty at all times. At present, all
clients assessed as needing Hospital Care get some form of Government
subsidy - ie. there is a maximum to how much the client pays, and
this is individually assessed or "asset tested". For further information

Resthome
Residents in
Maupuia Resthome have been assessed by a doctor specialising in
the Older Adult as requiring "Resthome Care". Generally they require less
assistance in their general cares, require less supervision and
minimal medical intervention. By law, a Registered Nurse on duty
at all times is not required, but the 24 hour availability of a
Registered Nurse at the adjoining hospital allows both families
and staff peace of mind. Resthome clients are either fully or partially
subsidised or pay privately. This criteria is determined by Government
Legislation. For further information on Government subsidies and
fee caps, see Government Subsidies.
